How can you, as a faith community, help the young adults you serve know their purpose?

Question 1: How do the youth that you serve find their purpose – their post-high school education, major, career - with your guidance and involvement?

Question 2: What if you, as a faith community, could help the young adults of your church begin to understand what their purpose in life really is?

Your outreach program can provide some answers. Young adults are struggling to determine their life’s purpose. They’re eager to discover that purpose, but simply don’t have the tools to begin the process of discovery. They need guidance in that process. Your outreach program can offer that support!

You can use the About-U Report in your church to help not only the young adults, but their families as well. This is an opportunity for you to bring families together in a church setting; help young people explore their interests, behaviors, needs and career opportunities; and initiate a meaningful – stress free – dialogue between parents and child.

HOW? The process of dialogue and discovery begins with the About USM Report.

Here’s the process:

1. INFORMATION NIGHT.
   Invite the youth of your church along with their parents to an Information Night. I will give them information on what information the About-U provides, how to take it, how to get feedback, and what follow-up will be available.
2. STUDENTS TAKE THE ABOUT-U.
   (Interested parents are also invited to take it.)
3. FEEDBACK SESSION.
   Feedback session is conducted at the church for no more than 12 clients (parents are strongly urged to attend whether or not they’ve taken the assessment) at a time.
4. FURTHER COACHING IS AVAILABLE.
   I will provide additional follow up sessions for anyone interested.
5. I will make sure that your Youth Minister knows how to use the About-U to talk to the young adults in your church about their life’s purpose when they want to discuss it.
